You mention “tins” of condensed milk and evaporated milk. I know this means “cans,” but is there any way you can tell us the size of the cans (i.e., how many ounces in both types of can)? Thanks. I saw Chef Irie’s show for the first time today and really enjoyed it. Came to get the Cilantro Corn Soup recipe but have found lots of others I am copying to try, this one included.
Hi Michelle, great question. Sometimes we forget everyone isn’t used to the ingredients that most Caribbean folks use daily. There are typically only one size of tin / can. For condensed milk it’s usually 13 – 14 oz, for evaporated milk it’s usually 12 oz. Please note that because of the richness of these types of milk, they are usually added to taste. You can taste them straight from the can so you know what you’re getting into ;-).
