Picadillo (Traditional Cuban Beef Hash)

A Cuban sauteed meat mixture, Picadillo is delicious on its own, served over rice, or as a filling in Cuban empanadas. This fast and easy recipe is a perfect dish if you need to whip up something tasty and filling quickly, or if you have company and would like to spend more time visiting than cooking.


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb. ground lean Beef or Turkey
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • 1 small (8 oz.) can Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Dry White Wine
  • Pimiento-Stuffed Olives to taste, chopped
  • Raisins to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the meat, onions, and garlic. Sauté until the meat is browned.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the tomato sauce and wine. Simmer for a few minutes.
  3. Add the pimiento stuffed olives, raisins, and salt and pepper to taste. Continue to simmer until the meat is cooked through.
  4. Serve over hot white rice.
