Cuban Mojito
Word is that this refreshing cocktail and Caribbean favorite started in Cuba. With its name derived from the African word for a magic spell, ‘mojo’ and the suffix ‘-ito’ for little, it just might put a little spell on you! It is said that the mojito was even a favorite of the famous American author, Ernest Hemingway.
Serves 1
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime cut into 4 wedges
- 1 1/4 0z white rum
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 oz soda water
- Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge in a glass and use a muddler to crush lime and mint leaves to release the juice and oils
- Add 2 more lime wedges and sugar and mix again
- Fill glass with ice almost to the top
- Pour rum over ice and add soda water
- Garnish with lime wedge
