Extra Old Fashioned

It is believed that this smooth, delicious cocktail – The Extra Old Fashioned, had its genesis on the island of Barbados and dates back to the early 1700s. It is said to be one of the earliest cocktails ever created and calls for the refinement of very aged rum.

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz Mt Gay Xtra Old Rum
  • 4-6 drops of Angostura bitters
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • Orange peel
  • Orange slice
  • Maraschino cherry

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Gently mix the orange peel with rum and sugar in a mixing glass
  2. Take out peel and add bitters and ice
  3. Stir until chilled and pour into an old fashioned glass
  4. Garnish with orange slice and cherry
