The first annual TTIX was presented at the Miramar Cultural Center in Broward County with the co-sponsorship of Mayor Wayne Messam, to a sold out audience of 500. The event celebrated the second season premiere of national culinary series “Taste the Islands”, and introduced the attendees to the long term vision for the event – a place to enjoy gourmet appetizers, Caribbean cocktails and fabulous people.
Partners included Food for the Poor, South Florida PBS, Sandals & Beaches Resorts and Lakay Food. Guests included Jamaican Consul General Franz Hall, Haitian Consul General Gandy Thomas, Barbadian Consul Joseph Hunte and Haitian Minister of Tourism Jessy Menos, as well of many of South Florida’s elite. A silent auction raised money for Jamaican and Haitian causes through Food for the Poor.
