The Margarita is a Mexican tequila based cocktail traditionally served with the appropriate lime and salt embellishments in a glass shaped like an inverted sombrero. Mexico is sometimes but not always considered a part of the Caribbean, because it is actually a part of the mainland and not an island.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 ozs tequila
  • 2 ozs triple sec / orange liquer
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar dissolved over heat then cooled)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slice
  • Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Rub the rim of the margarita glass with lime slice then dip in salt. Shake together ice, tequila, lime juice, Simple Syrup and triple sec until mixed and chilled, then carefully pour into glass. Garnish with lime slice and serve over ice.
