Taste the Islands Experience New Location

In June of 2017, celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month and the nationwide premiere of culinary and travel television series Taste the Islands on Create TV, the first staging of The Taste the Islands Experience was hosted in Miramar, Florida. The event was co-presented by Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam, inside the lovely banquet hall in the city’s Cultural Center. 500 guests enjoyed an evening of fine style, good food and great company. Dignitaries, officials, and a who’s who of the Caribbean contingent were out in force to celebrate with the TV show’s stars and production team.

In 2018, the tone has shifted. After taking the live show on the road, meeting with fans in New York later in June of 2017, and then hosting a grand production at the Haitian Embassy in Washington, DC in October that year, the team has turned its focus back home, to South Florida, for the second annual major staging of the event. They’ve partnered with the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society(FLHS), situated along the north bank of the Tarpon River, steps away from Riverwalk and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The event will now be held in the tropical garden areas of the FLHS campus, overlooking the river, and with a lot more in store.

There will be more food, more drink, more chefs, more culture, more entertainment, and space for quite a few more guests. A diverse cross-section of attendees is expected, including folks from the surrounding downtown area, regular supporters of Historical Society events, discerning members of the Caribbean community, visitors from out of town, and the sponsors who help to bring the event together.
